Mildew Blues

I’ve been growing mildew in the back of my mind

I left the sunny weather for the love of my life

And all the country singers are singin’ bout stormy times

Well I thought I’d put together my own mildew rhyme

I got the mildew blues

The mildew blues

I got the mildew blues

The mildew blues

I’ve been walkin’ around

With a head full of mildew blues

Now I ain’t the kinda person to side step the rain

I don’t wanna be one of them people who sugar coat the pain

I can’t be found fermenting around in a mood

But I can’t seem to shake these old mildew blues

I got the mildew blues

The mildew blues

I got the mildew blues

The mildew blues

I’ve been walkin’ around

With a head full of mildew blues

I love my pretty baby but I can’t stand the rain

I wanna go back to the sunshine again

All these rainclouds are getting me down

I can’t find a way to turn this around

I got the mildew blues

The mildew blues

I got the mildew blues

The mildew blues

I’ve been walkin’ around

With a head full of mildew blues

Down With Your Soul

I’m on a mountain on top of the world
You’re in the valley deep down below
I’ve been out walking, exploring this world
While you’re sitting on your backside at home

My, my, my
You’ve gotta go, go, go
Or I, I, I
Am going down with your soul

Always knew you would pull me from the lows
And I hoped we could fly sky high
Thought you and I would be friends for life
But somehow my happiness you despite

My, my, my
You’ve gotta go, go, go
Or I, I, I
Am going down with your soul

All the voices in your head are much too loud for my call
And I’ve thrown all I have into the depths of your endless black hole
You’ve gotta try and help yourself or what we give, it means nothing at all
It means nothing at all

You gotta go
Or I’m going down with your soul

My, my, my
You’ve gotta go, go, go
Or I, I, I
Am going down with your soul

Hindsight

Well I don’t quite know what to do
Since the day we broke apart
We made plans to make a family
I thought that it would last
You know how we say you’re the love of my life
You’re the one, my soul mate, the apple of my eye
Maybe God was laughing
Saying boy they sure aren’t right

All this time the poet’s right
Love is blind in hindsight

Now I wonder just how long I would have stayed
Jumping through hoops and changing my name
Hoping to be the best I could be
Is not enough to win the game
Now I’m looking on back through photographs
Letters and songs trigger flashbacks
I cannot be fooled by this push and pull
Gotta get myself on track

Cos all this time the poet’s right
Love is blind in hindsight

Time takes time
Take it in your stride
Oh how we tried
But it just ain’t right

All this time the poet’s right
Love is blind in hindsight
