Introducing brand new Scottish Borders–based duo, Miwa Nagato-Apthorp & Jenny Biddle. Blending their Australian, Scottish and Japanese cultures with roots music, folk, song-driven storytelling with warmth, grit and heart.
Aussie songwriter, “Melbourne’s Best Busker” 2010-2012 and seasoned guitarist, Jenny Biddle, brings feisty blues and roots grooves, ingenious re-workings of popular singalong-songs, and a dusting of country for the wandering soul. Alongside her,
Miwa Nagato-Apthorp, described as a “visceral new voice in Scottish folk” 2025 Best Acoustic winner at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards, draws on folk traditions to explore multicultural understandings of history, climate, gender and home, giving voice to stories often left unheard.
Together, they weave guitars, piano, shruti box, harmonies and amusing stage banter into an entertaining evening that feels both intimate and expansive.
